Panama Seafood is owned by Sea-Deli, Panama. Sea-Deli is a family-owned business that was founded by Diamantis Papadimitriu, a Greek immigrant from Athens who moved to Panama in the early 1960s. Mr. Papadimitriu and his wife, Mary Papadimitriu, who worked side by side with her husband for forty years, established his seafood company with the purchase of his first shrimp trawler, Doña Ivis. From there, the company grew with Mr. Diamantis’s vision: “We live from fishing, not from the fisherman.”
Mr. Diamantis’s captains respect and admire him for his knowledge and dedication to shrimping. Back in the 1980s, he lost a few boats and a couple of good captains to pirates at sea, who killed the crew and used the boats for arms and drug trafficking.
Those were hard times, but Mr. Diamantis’s only concern was always his captains and crew, not the boats. He could care less about the boats. His captains were and are part of his family.

Those were hard times, but Mr. Diamantis’s only concern was always his captains and crew, not the boats. He could care less about the boats. His captains were and are part of his family.
Mr. Diamantis believed that the only way to grow in a competitive market was to equip his boats with the best gear and nets possible. He would always say, “Change the oil and filters of the engines on every trip.” Mr. Diamantis designed and built his own boats and nets. He had every square inch of his vessels memorized.
Mr. Diamantis’s work ethic was unparalleled, Monday to Sunday from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., no vacations. His vision and love for fishing grew the company to 26 fishing trawlers and two processing plants.
In the 1990s, Mr. Diamantis started exporting lobster from the Atlantic side of Panama. He would bring huge lobsters and crab from the San Blas islands and Bocas del Toro. The lobsters are caught by local indigenous divers using only their hands and lungs from the bottom of the crystal clear Caribbean ocean.
Beginning in the 1970s, Mr. Diamantis sold most of his production to one seafood company located in New York.
Unfortunately, Mr. Diamantis, our father, passed away, but his legacy continues.

The indigenous population of the Guna Yala tribe lives in the heavenly Panamanian archipelago of San Blas. The tribe has in its domain a great treasure: the Caribbean lobster. The waters of San Blas are a blessed haven protected by the San Blas inhabitants, who collect this treat from the sea to bring it directly to yourtable.
Every day, members of the Guna Yala tribe get up and leave their families at home to embark in their canoes to the lobster habitats. There, by just holding their breath, they dive to depths of around 100 feet and pick with their hands the best and largest specimens. The result is unique: with every bite of our lobster tails you will find yourself transported to the exotic islands of San Blas in the Caribbean.
Every day, our trawlers navigate the Panamanian Pacific Ocean with one objective: to bring to your table the finest and largest white shrimp you have ever tried. In Panama, along the coast of Darién, live the best shrimp in the world, the Great Pacific White Shrimp.
Darién is a unique and pristine area with the perfect conditions for the Great White Shrimp. The challenging access from the “civilized world” to this region of Panama helps maintain an exclusive environment, full of nutrients, that is responsible for the Great White Shrimp’s special flavor and humongous size.
When our fishermen reach the shores of Darién, they know everything about the ocean around them, as well as the behavior of this wild white shrimp. Thus, we respect the shrimp’s breeding cycle and only the best and biggest specimens are captured and brought to your table.
The Great Pacific White Shrimp from Panama provides an exquisite flavor in every bite and that flavor will transport you to one of the most unexplored areas of our planet, combining nature, freshness and exclusiveness in your dishes.
